The Village Sunday Ritual

The Village Sunday Ritual: Palm Wine (Kallu) and A Spicy Mutton Feast

Nature’s Own Beer: Kallu

In my village, we don’t need factories to make beer. Nature gives it to us directly. We call it "Kallu" (Palm Wine). Early in the morning, specialized climbers (Gouds) climb tall palm trees to collect this white, frothy sap in earthen pots.

It is fresh, organic, and tastes sweet with a slight kick. Drinking fresh Kallu under the shade of trees, surrounded by green fields, is an experience no expensive bar in the city can offer.

**The Spicy Mutton Feast**

What goes best with Palm Wine? A spicy, hot Mutton Curry cooked on an open wood fire (Kattela Poyyi). The smoke from the wood adds a unique flavor to the meat that you will never find in gas-stove cooking.

We use hand-ground spices—lot of chili, garlic, and coriander. The curry is rich, thick, and fiery hot

The Joy of Togetherness

This isn't just about food or drink. It is about bonding. On Sundays, friends and family gather in the fields. We sit on traditional woven cots (Mancham), share jokes, eat from the same plates, and enjoy the cool breeze.

There is no stress, no deadlines. Just good food, raw nature, and the best company. This is the Raw India life.
